The last of 11 has passed on to join his parents and 10 siblings in heaven. Gerald Lynn Thomas (Jerry) of Springville, Utah, returned to his heavenly home on May 30, 2023 at the young age of 91. He was born May 25, 1932 to LeRoy Wilson Thomas and Christina Orick Ferguson in Spanish Fork Utah.

He was married to his sweetheart LaNyle Gurr on June 29, 1956. They were sealed in the Manti Temple on May 2, 1959. For 66 years he was completely devoted to his sweetheart. They were usually found together.

Jerry loved animals, especially his horses. He trained them, including an Arabian horse that he showed and also rode in parades. He sold shoes, insurance, and vacuums. He worked as a carpenter, millwright, and contractor. He was a man of many talents and worked many jobs to provide for his family. He retired from Provo Housing Authority where he loved helping people. He could fix anything; it was his way to show love and serve others.

He honorably served his country in the Korean Conflict in the Navy from 1949 to 1953 on the ship Gunston Hall.

He loved being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in various callings and especially loved serving in the Provo Temple.

In addition to his sweetheart, LaNyle, he also leaves behind five wonderful and amazing children (according to Mom and Dad), three daughters and two sons: Christina Story (Randy), John Thomas (Natcha), Paul Thomas (Karen), Elizabeth Swasey, Katherine Burrows (Reid), as well as 23 wonderful grandchildren, and 26 amazing great grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, June 3 at 11:00 am at Wheeler Mortuary 211 East 200 South in Springville Utah. The family is honoring his wishes (mostly) and there will be no viewing. His body will already have been interred prior to the memorial service. The family will be available from 10:00-10:30 am to visit. Following the memorial service there will be a brief graveside dedication and military service.
