Scott Alan Nix

Scott Alan Nix, 58, of Idaho Falls, passed away on May 28, 2023, at his home with the love of his life, Jody, and his beautiful daughter, Kara, by his side. He was also surrounded by many loving family members.

His battle was fought quietly, courageously, and with utter selflessness. Scott maintained hope and positivity throughout his journey, never veering from his true self and always putting others first. He battled on his own terms and owned every decision he made. The family is beyond proud of the inspiration he was.

Scott was born on September 2,1964, in Cordell, Oklahoma, to Elywn (EC) and Ilene Nix. He lived in Boulder, Colorado, for a short time and moved to Kingfisher, Oklahoma, when he was nine years old. He attended school in Oklahoma, where he graduated with Honors from Kingfisher High School in May 1982. He was a member of the Oklahoma Honor Society and National Honor Society. He excelled in Speech and Drama and won numerous awards, including Humorous Duet at State and All-State Speech. Scott also went to State Finals in Dramatic Duet. In addition to directing and acting in many school plays, he was also a well-known face at the Kingfisher Playhouse.

Scott loved all things comedic; his sense of humor and quick wit will be missed by everyone. His love for acting and being on stage gave him a platform to shine, which served him well in every aspect of life. He could own a room with just one joke and was always in his element anytime he had an opportunity to share his talents.

Scott had an amazing career. He worked for Bills IGA in Kingfisher as the Produce Manager. It was there he met his wife of 40 years, Jody. He swept her up as quick as he could, and he never looked back. Together they moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, in 1987 to plant their roots and start a family. Over the next two decades, Scott worked for Martin's Stationers / Corporate Express as an Account Manager, Sales Manager, Director of Customer Care and Manager of Integrated Sales. He then moved on to Press-A-Print International as the VP of Marketing, followed by a position as Vice President of Sales at Porter's Office Products. Scott took away many close friends from his years in the business world.

In 2016, Scott capitalized on all his professional experience and knowledge and started his own business, ValueBeast Products. He put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into the business, and one of his proudest moments was when he was able to bring his daughter, Kara, on board in 2021, to help run the company. During 2022, arguably the hardest year of his life, ValueBeast had a record year in sales, followed by a record month in April 2023, putting the business on track to beat the previous record year. These accomplishments are a true testament to Scott's dedication and desire to hand the company off to his wife and daughter in an incredible position for additional growth and success.

Scott was an excellent handyman and could fix just about anything that was given to him. He's helped countless family members with fix-it projects in houses new and old. When his daughter bought her first house, he completed many different projects including custom built shelves for an office nook, and he single handedly painted the entire house to ensure it was good enough for her to move into. Scott's granddaughters are still convinced grandpa is the only one who knew how to change batteries and fix broken toys. He loved being a grandpa more than anything, and their hugs brought him so much joy and peace. Written by Samantha Jo Reese, six years old, to her grandpa: "I love you even if your not hre" This simply melted his heart.

Scott is survived by his wife, Jody Nix; daughter, Kara (Derek) Reese; son, Tyler (Morgan) Nix; granddaughters, Samantha Reese, Alexandra Reese and Kenadee Nix; and grandsons, Baker Nix and Bun in the Oven Baby Reese; cousins, Wesley Willms and Vicki Barton; nieces, Stormy Peeler and Leslie Nix; father-in-law, Dencil Gold; brothers-in-law, Bobby Gold, Alan (Ann) Gold and Scott (Hylin) Gold; sisters-in-law, Teri Osborne and Cassie (Duane) Jensen; along with many other nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, EC Nix; mother, Alice Ilene Homier; brothers, Larry Nix and Stan Peeler; his grandpa and grandma, Charlie and Mae Goodbrake; his step-dad, Kenny Homier; mothers-in-law, Gypsy Gold and Carol Gold; his auntie, Charlene Hosier; his grandpa, LC Nix and his grandma, Cecil Frances Ramsey Nix.

A "come as you are – per Scott's request" Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 Noon on June 16, 2023, at The Brickyard Event Center, 1025 South Ammon Road in Ammon. The event will begin with a luncheon for all those who would like to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Scott's non-profit, S2BCF, will be accepted at the Celebration of Life. Soon To Be Cancer Free (S2BCF) is a platform for cancer victims, as well as their family and friends, that encourages community support and assists with resources during the fight against cancer.
