Martha Lou Turner Obituary

Martha Lou Turner passed away peacefully in the arms of Our Lord and Savior on May 29, 2023. She was born on April 26, 1941, to the late Gordon Lee and Lizzy Ardella Hurst. Martha was a lifelong member of Crossroad Baptist Church. She was a homemaker for many years until she became a special needs bus driver and retired from Cobb County school system after 30+ years. She cherished her sweet grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved spending all the time possible with her family. She loved the holiday seasons, especially Christmas. She enjoyed attending church as well as all the sister churches in the New Hope Baptist Association. Some of her favorite things were spending time and visiting churches with her loving husband, making flower arrangements, visiting the beach, and working in her yard, especially cutting grass. Martha was a devoted preacher’s wife and was very loved by everyone she met.

Our sweet wife, sister, mom, nana, and friend will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Martha is preceded in death by her great grandson Wyatt Smith and sisters, Ann Connally and Betty Gregory. She is survived by her loving husband of over 62 years, Rev. Harold Turner; her twin sister, Mary Conley, four children, Lesha Ann (Steve) Sheffield, Leia Jan (Mark) Wolfe, Kimberly Jean (Doug) Bodenhamer, Jeffery Hayden (Christy) Turner; eight grandchildren, Steven “Bubba” Sheffield, Jr., Brett (Trisha) Sheffield, Ashley Leonard, Jessica (Jeffrey) Smith, Alyssa (Nic) Tyler, Hayden Jones, Zach and Abby Turner; fourteen great-grandchildren, Rowan, Grace, Turner and Hudson Sheffield, Cayden, Lawson, Parker, Zane and Olivia Rose Sheffield, Lacy and Jackson Leonard, Maddie Smith, Bryceson and Kayson Tyler.

The family will receive friends and family at Clark Funeral Home on Wednesday May 31, 2023, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm.
