Passed away peacefully, on Monday, May 29, 2023, at Grand River Hospital, KW Health Centre, Kitchener. Marilyn was born 80 years ago in Ingersoll, Ontario, a daughter of the late Cyrus and Coral Ruth (Harris) Poyntz.

Cherished and loving wife of Irvin Douglas Reist, whom she enjoyed 54 years of marriage with. Devoted mother of Tanya and husband Joe Fenton, Deanne and husband Luke Gladding and Jason Reist and wife Annemarie. Proud grandmother of Clara and Jacob Gladding and Connor and Madison Reist. Marilyn will be missed by her brother Allan and his wife Elizabeth Poyntz, sisters in law Armintha Belbeck and Joanne Kipfer and husband Reynold.

Predeceased by her brother Paul, brothers-in-law Lester and wife Marjorie Reist and Elroy Belbeck.

Marilyn was a long-time member of Bethel Evangelical Missionary Church, New Dundee and was active with the Bethel Women’s Ministries. Marilyn was a devoted church secretary, librarian and grounds keeper which was truly shown in her own gardens. Marilyn and Irvin enjoyed travelling together and travelled to many areas.

A private time of Goodbyes was held with interment at Union Cemetery, New Dundee. A Celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at Bethel Evangelical Missionary Church, 1531 Bridge St, New Dundee, on Monday, June 5, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. a time of fellowship will follow in the church hall.

As expressions of sympathy, and in lieu of flowers, donations would be accepted to Bethel Women’s Ministries or Evergreen Christian Ministries and can be done through the funeral home. 519-662-1661.
