<p>Mr. William Dale Gay, 85, of Smithville, peacefully passed away on May 30, 2023, at his home.</p><p><br></p><p>Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2023, in the Leesburg Cemetery. The family will visit with friends following the service.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>Dale was born October 9, 1937, in Macon, Georgia to the late William Harold Gay and Annie Mae Phagan. He spent his early years in Flowery Branch and then moved to Plains, Georgia where he lived with his mother and beloved stepfather, Clarence Dodson. At the age of 19 he joined the military where he proudly served our country in the United States Army.&nbsp;He was a talented entrepreneur, electrician, and bricklayer, and he created a beautiful home and life for his wife, children, and grandchildren. A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, he will be greatly missed by all.</p><p><br></p><p>He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 child.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of almost 29 years, Dorothy Gay, 4 children, 18 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>Joseph W. Mr. William Dale Gay, 85, of Smithville, peacefully passed away on May 30, 2023, at his home.
