Delina Marie Roop, 87, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2023, at the Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Berea, Ky.

Delina was born in Estill County, Ky to the late Sherman & Mary French on March 30, 1936. She worked for many years at Berea College Food Service. She loved her family and cooked many holiday meals for them, which will always be remembered for her chicken & dumplings, "patty" dressing, and dried apple pies. For the grandchildren it will always be her chocolate pie and no bake cookies she fixed especially for them. Delina was a member of Beaver Pond Christian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Jennings French, Mabel Richardson, James French, Paul French, and Opal Chrisman.

She's survived by her children: Joe Ann (Keith) Carpenter, Garry (Donna) Roop, Faye (Clarence) Barrett, and Vickie (Anthany) Durham. Grandchildren: Angie (Shawn) Durham, Jared Carpenter, Jeremy (Melissa) Grant, and Diane (Burl) Culton. Step grandchildren: Jason (Erica) Barrett. Scott Colbenson, Jessica Colbenson, and John Willis. Great grandchildren: Chase & Hailey Brinegar, Taylor Durham, Shawn Durham Jr, Cole & Cate Carpenter, Brynlee & Brylee Barrett, and her "Baby" Gillian Grant.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 2pm at Lakes Funeral Home with Pastor Kenny Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11am until time of service. Pallbearers will be: Jared Carpenter, Jeremy Grant, Chase Brinegar, Cole Carpenter, Burl Culton, and Mike French.
