Judy Proffitt

Mrs. Judith Hunt Proffitt, 74, of Richmond, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center.

Judy was born in Richmond, Kentucky at the former Pope Hospital on December 29, 1948, the daughter of the late Elwood & Edna Poynter Hunt. She was a graduate of Garrard County High School in 1967 and was a member of the Paint Lick United Methodist Church. Judy loved tending to her flower garden and was especially fond of her hibiscus which she tenderly cared for year around. She also enjoyed home crafting and spending time with her family.

Survivors include: her husband of 54 years, Thomas Proffitt, Jr.; one son, Woody Darrell Proffitt (Jamie); one sister, Brenda Diane Hunt; as well as other extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: one son, Thomas Dwayne Proffitt; and her little dog, Lizzie.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 1, 2023, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond, with Arthur C. Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Manse Cemetery at Paint Lick.

Visitation will be after 12:00 PM (Noon), on Thursday, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be: Timothy Proffitt, Paul Proffitt, Daniel Proffitt, Bill Kirkland, Randy Rosanbalm and Shawn Hamilton.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Judy are suggested to either the: Hospice Compassionate Care Center, 350 Isaacs Lane, Richmond, KY 40475, or to the Madison County Animal Shelter, 1386 Richmond Road N., Berea, KY 40403.
