Shirley Inman Hudgins Ammons Obituary

Shirley Inman Hudgins Ammons of Red Springs was born on November 8, 1932 to the late Ralph Bain and Sarah Ethel Andrews Inman and departed this life on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 completing her journey of 90 years.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Ammons was preceded in death by her first husband: Thomas Coleman Hudgins; her second husband: John G. Ammons as well as a sister: Pattie Carol Hunt.

Ms. Ammons was a retired English Teacher from the Red Springs City School System were she taught for over thirty years. She enjoyed spending time and teaching the children of that time. Shirley was a life long member of Red Springs Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed attending before her health began to decline. Spending time with her cats was one of her favorite past times.

She is survived by one son: Jerry Coleman Hudgins of California; one daughter: Patricia E. Hudgins of the home as well as a sister: Linda McLester of Laurinburg.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 11:00 AM in Meadowbrook Cemetery, Lumberton, NC. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
