Naomi M. Carr Obituary

Mrs. Naomi Mary (Hartman) Carr, 92, of Greencastle, PA, passed away peacefully, on Monday, May 29, 2023, in the Shook Home, Chambersburg, where she had resided for the past year.


She was one of twelve children and the last of her immediate family. Born June 23, 1930, in Waynesboro, PA; she was the daughter of the late Aaron Welty and Mary Alverta (Barlup) Hartman.


She married Henry Samuel Carr on September 27, 1947. Samuel passed away June 29, 2007, after nearly 60 years of marriage.


Before retiring, Naomi worked at area dress factories and shoe factories. She had a passion for baking and enjoyed her work as a baker at Sunnyway Foods, Greencastle. She also enjoyed doing yardwork, puzzles, reading, and word searches. She truly loved her family and was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.


She was a member of Otterbein United Brethren Church, Greencastle.


Naomi enjoyed puzzles, wordsearches, reading, baking and time spent with her family.


She is survived by three children: Donald E. (Joan) Carr, Charlene K. Zarger, and Terry L. Carr, all of Greencastle; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.


In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Henry Allen Carr; a daughter-in-law, Pam Carr; her sisters: Pearl Wagaman, Ruth Sharer, Vera Hartman, and Margaret Hartman; her brothers: Glenn Hartman, Galen Hartman, Richard Hartman, Edgar Hartman, Casper Hartman, Ralph Hartman and Carroll Hartman.


Funeral services will be held at 5:00 P.M., on Thursday, June 1, 2023 in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St. Greencastle, with Rev. David Rawley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home, until 7:00 P.M. Burial at Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, will be private, at the convenience of the family.
