Jennie Rodriguez De La Torre “Grama Jennie”, age 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 23th, 2023. Jennie was born and raised in Castroville, California on May 7th, 1932, to Jesus Rodriguez and Delores Martinez.

She was a loving mother and grandmother of 7 children, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and a much loved friend to many. To say that she will be missed is an understatement, for she was loved by everyone she met.

Grama Jennie valued her relationships. She loved laughing, joking, dancing and singing, especially with family and friends. She enjoyed going to each and every family gathering no matter the occasion, just to be surrounded by loved ones.

She enjoyed many hobbies throughout her lifetime such as cooking, teaching Catechism class and she was an avid 49er and giants fan.

The highest level of education she received was 8th grade. For employment, she was a caregiver, housekeeper and worked in the artichoke industry in her youth.

Grama observed the Catholic religion. Her relationship with God was inspiring and beautiful. She enjoyed teaching her family stories of Jesus, the saints and how to pray the rosary. She especially taught her family to love everyone as God does and she loved to give blessings.

Grama Jennie was loving, kind, and generous. She took care of everyone and treated all like family. She accepted everyone as they were with open arms and was never judgmental.

Grama Jennie was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus Rodriguez and Delores Martinez, brother, Filemon Rodriguez and sons, Jacob Leyba and Ernest Molina.

She is survived by her loving children Sandra Ramirez, Julian Leyba (Lily), Richard Molina (Roberta), Arthur Molina (Maria) and Oscar De La Torre (Blanca) and all of her grandchildren.

Visitation will be held, Friday, June 2, 2023 at the Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Rd., Salinas from1 - 5 PM.

A Rosary will be said at the Mortuary Friday at 4:00 PM

A Chapel Blessing will be held, Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Mortuary Chapel at 11:00 AM, followed by the Burial at the Castroville Community Cemetery in Moss Landing.

A celebration of life will be held after services at the American Legion Hall in Prunedale.
