Donald Ray Britt

Donald Ray Britt (aka Skippy) was born on November 8, 1947 in Tupelo, Arkansas to Tressie and John Britt. Don moved to California in his youth and met his lifelong partner, Faye Eubanks. Don and Faye had a whirlwind courtship and were happily married for 52 years. Don prided himself on his occupation; He was a truck driver for over 40 years. He also enjoyed tinkering in his backyard, utilizing his ingenuity to create inventive miscellaneous projects (e.g., a hydraulic can crusher, a motorized go-kart using a lawnmower engine, etc.). Despite some mishaps, Don was unwavered and continued to stay active in his yard while also helping his children with household projects. Don would often be known for poking fun at others, making silly faces, and cracking jokes. He often enjoyed creating nicknames for his family members, and he would occasionally facetiously forget some of his in-law's and grandchildren’s names in exchange for an amusing, endearing nickname. Don could also be observed playing with his grandchildren, even jokingly wrestling his athletic, teen grandchildren in the backyard well into his midlife. Don is survived by his wife, Faye Britt; his two sons, Donnie Britt and wife, Melissa Britt, David Britt and wife, Gabby Britt, and his daughter, Teresa Britt. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and seven siblings, John Henry Britt (Oklahoma), Wilma Soares (Los Banos, CA), Eldon Britt (San Bernardino, CA), Mike Garcia (Modesto, CA), Liz Pacheco (Modesto, CA), Gregory Garcia (Mariposa, CA), and Larry Garcia (Merced, CA).

Services for Don Britt will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023, at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter, California. Viewing will be from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm, with a service at 1:00 pm. A graveside will be held at 2:00 pm at the Shafter Cemetery, 18662 Santa Fe Way, Shafter, California.  Food and a celebration of life will be held following the graveside at David and Gabby Britt's home, 11409 Martinsville Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93312
