Rex A McCarty

<p>Rex McCarty was a kind husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He left this world suddenly on May 25th, 2023. Rex had battled serious medical issues over many years and always met each challenge with humor and usually a witty remark.</p><p>Rex was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 15th, 1957, to Gloria and Charles McCarty. Rex graduated from Swanton High School and from Penta County from the small engine program. Rex worked at Seneca Wire as a production worker and an active member of the UAW. In 1999, he married his wife, Jennifer McCarty and through marriage he gained 3 daughters, Jocelyn, Danielle and Monica. They lived the small town life in North Baltimore, Ohio for many years. </p><p>Rex enjoyed many hobbies in life, including autocrossing, road racing, motorcycles, fishing, and in general repairing things. He earned the title Rookie of the Year for the Sports Car Club of America GTB and the NASPORT Rookie of the Year for autocrossing. He enjoyed building and re-building many cars over the years and had a beloved Honda Goldwing. He was a member of St. Lukes Lutheran Church in North Baltimore and participated in many church activities and functions over the years.</p><p>Rex was well known for his quirky sense of humor, giving nature, and just tinkering around. During his days in the hospital, at Skilled Nursing facilities, and his last days at Otterbein in Pemberville, he made many friends and shared wonderful stories. He always had something wonderful to share to brighten someone's day. He could bend your ear about aliens, politics, cars, bikes, and in general any life advice. He was a wonderful man who tried his hardest to be giving to anyone who needed something. </p><p>Rex is preceded in death by his father Charles Mccarty, mother Gloria McCarty, and his faithful canine companion, Vincent. He is survived by his wife of 23 years Jennifer McCarty, daughters Jocelyn (Mike) Bongorno, Danielle (Robert) Cotton, Monica (Travis) Lohse and grandchildren: Robby, Natalynn, and Lucy. </p><p>There will be a small private ceremony for immediate family only. The family will notify loved ones in the future when a Celebration of life is scheduled.</p>
