Sharon passed away May 28, 2023. She was born October 15, 1942 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Roger and Theola (Rodefer) Lachmiller.

Sharon graduated from Witmer Highschool in 1960 and then received her Bachelor’s degree from Fort Wayne Bible College. She married George on August 7, 1965 and they began a lifetime of companionship. Much time was spent on the family farm milking cows, baling hay, and later raising poultry. She was an incredibly hard worker and never shied away from difficult or unpleasant tasks. In later years, she did the bookkeeping for their business Plastic Regrinders, Inc. She considered any time working alongside her husband as a great privilege.

In her younger years, she also taught at Somerset and Glenford Elementary schools and at Licking County Christian Academy. After her teaching years, she worked as a professional secretary for Larry Sargent’s State Farm agency in Granville and for Safety Kleen Services in Hebron.

Upon retiring, her days got even busier as she had even more time to pour into favorite activities such as sewing, scrapbooking, and attending various activities of the grandchildren. She was known as one of their most faithful fans. Sharon was very involved in her grandchildren’s lives and they were one of her greatest joys.

Sharon was a very active member of the Newark Baptist Temple. She spent many years in the choir and singing special music for services. Her love of God and her musical talent was passed down to her children and grandchildren.

Sharon was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and she will be missed by those who knew her. Her family rejoices together in the confidence that they will see her again.

She is survived by her husband, George H. West; three children, Tami (Tom) Claggett, Todd (Laura) West, Troy (Mary Ellen) West; twelve grandchildren, Katie (Jesse) Breneman, Matt Claggett, Daniel Claggett, Sarah Claggett, Michael Claggett, Carrie West, Allie West, Drew West, Mylie West, Aaron (Olivia) West, Austin West, and Hannah West; and a brother, Daniel (Debbie) Lachmiller.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Newark Baptist Temple “Mission Program” 81 Licking View Drive, Newark, Ohio 43056.

The Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
