<p>If you were ever in want of a smile and a slice of chocolate cream pie, spaghetti, and meatballs or maybe the best bowl of homemade chicken soup, Carole Nowak had you covered. She loved to cook, she loved her cats, faithfully walked dog Tess, and above all she loved her family.</p><p><br></p><p>Carole Marie Nowak (nee Wilkes) passed away on the morning of May 25th in Denver, Colorado of complications from Alzheimer’s. Carole was born in Albany, New York on November 28, 1933, to Charles and Marie Wilkes. She was the eldest of three and is survived by brother Ken Wilkes of Schenectady and sister Marilyn Haviland of Glens Falls, New York. Before retiring and trading the Albany winters for the sunshine of Florida, Carole worked at the Department of Motor Vehicles where she created many lasting friendships.</p><p><br></p><p>Carole and husband Ed Nowak (who passed away in 2009) were married for 52 years and raised their family in Glenmont, New York before moving to Denver in 2007, a location closer to their children, Neil Nowak (wife Jane Ingalls) of Denver, Stephen Nowak (fiancé Shannon Johnson) of Chicago and Kim Nowak-Cooperman (husband Andy Cooperman) of Seattle. Carole was always ready with a smile, especially for her grandchildren Caroline, Tim, Tyler, and Kyle. She will be greatly missed.
