Evelyn "Doreen" Chertow

<p>Evelyn “Doreen” Chertow (nee Shultz), 91 years, passed away on a beautiful day, May 29, 2023 at Allendale LTC home in Milton.</p><p>Wife of Michael (Mike) Chertow (pre deceased). Daughter of William (Bill) Parker Shultz and Ida Mae Shultz (nee MacDonald, pre deceased). Doreen was the last surviving sibling in her generation of 10 brothers and sisters: Leona, Rachel, Muriel, Margaret, Marion, June, Elwood, Alfred, Greta and Judy.</p><p><br></p><p>Doreen was born and raised in Chalk River and moved to Sudbury, Ontario where she married Mike and raised their family.</p><p><br></p><p>Doreen is the loving mother of Brent Chertow (Linda), Kim Chertow (Nancy, pre deceased), Susan Vickell, Cathy Hammond (Dan, pre deceased).</p><p><br></p><p>Doreen is the cherished grandmother of Lindsie, Erica, Heather, Megan, Kahla, Amy, Nathan, Evan, Jessica and Aidan. She is the great-grandmother to seventeen wonderful children.</p><p><br></p><p>Doreen had a great sense of humor that brought laughter to many. She loved parties and family party gatherings.</p><p><br></p><p>Over the years she looked forward every Summer out at the Lake at Whitewater to some of the Grandkids coming to stay a week or so several times through the Summer. She was always up for a visit from her family and had lunch and snacks on hand. Doreen really looked forward to the Thanksgiving get togethers in Sudbury.</p><p><br></p><p>She loved watching sports: curling, figure skating, world junior hockey and was a big Blue Jays fan! Once or twice every week she’d find the Bingo hall and never turned down an offer to visit a Casino.</p><p><br></p><p>Special thanks to the immediate Staff at Allendale who took really good care of Mom.</p><p><br></p><p>A very special thanks to her Granddaughter Erica, who far exceeded what is expected of any Granddaughter tending to her Grandma while in Milton.</p><p><br></p><p>At Doreen’s request there will be no visitation or funeral. Interment will be with her husband Mike at Civic Memorial Cemetery in Sudbury.</p><p><br><br></p><p></p>
