Charlene Therese Gardaphe, nee Gardner, age 85 of Naperville, Oak Brook, Oak Lawn and Chicago. She passed away Monday, May 22, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of William P. Gardaphe, wedded for 61 years. Cherished mother of Susan (Charles) Strohmaier, Diane (Michael) Saulnier, Nancy Gardaphe, and Carol (John) Goble. Adored Grammy of Steven, Kevin (Colleen) and Brian Strohmaier, Matthew and Emily Saulnier, Gigi and Dillon Goble. Proceeded in death by her parents, Hugh and Luella Gardner and brother, Hugh Gardner. Charlene graduated from Sacred Heart Grammer and High School, Class of 1949. She later graduated from Michael Reese School of Nursing. Charlene spent 56 years as a registered nurse working for Michael Reese Hospital, Lawn Medical, Christ Hospital and Elmhurst Clinic. Charlene was a founding member of St. Germaine Parish of Oak Lawn, as well as a parishioner of Visitation Church in Elmhurst, and Our Lady of Mercy, in Aurora. She was actively involved in many aspects at these parishes, including Eucharistic Ministry and Girl Scouting. Charlene enjoyed traveling, especially to their cabin in Reedsburg, WI and their condo in Fort Meyers Beach, FL. Funeral Information Visitation: Thursday, June 1st 3:00-9:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL 60540. Prayers will begin, Friday, June 2nd 9:45 AM from funeral home and will process to Visitation Catholic Church, 851 S. York Rd., Elmhurst, IL 60126 for a 10:45 AM Mass of Christian Burial.
