It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Hada Castiñeiras Hernandez, 96, of Miami, Florida. She passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, May 28, 2023.

Hada, originally from Cuba, is remembered for her humanitarian efforts working with the International Rescue Committee. Her hobbies included sewing, playing canastas and crossword puzzles, and perfecting her black bean recipe. Most importantly, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is predeceased by her husband, Pedro S. Hernandez, her son’s Pedro Hernandez, Alejandro Hernandez, and Santiago Hernandez, and her grandson James Hernandez. She is survived by her son Luis A. Hernandez, her daughter Ada de Varona, her granddaughter’s Natalia de Varona, Jasmine M. Salgueiro, and Katherine M. Beharry, her great grandchildren Kya M. Beharry, Kaden M. Beharry, and Asher James Salgueiro.

A church service in her honor will be held on June 9, 2023 at St. Dominic Catholic church, 5909 NW 7th St, Miami, FL 33126 at 8 pm in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations made to, “Liga Contra el Cancer” in her name.
