Obituary

is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother Rachel Lalonde-Haller, on the evening of April 10, 2023, at the age of 98, surrounded by her family.

Mom was born in Zenon Park on March 6, 1925 to Eugene and Andrea Favreau. She grew up on the family farm in Zenon Park and attended Treasure School. On November 26, 1946 mom married our dad, Roland Lalonde. They lived the first 6 years of their marriage in Archerwill. In 1952 they moved to Zenon Park, bought a farm and farmed until 1971. Mom loved gardening and always had a large garden while we were growing up. She was a wonderful cook and whenever we came to visit you could be sure to have a feast. Her homemade buns and desserts were always a treat.

In 1971 Mom and Dad retired from farming and moved to Tisdale. After the move, mom joined the Immaculate Conception Church Choir and sang with them for many years until her health started to fail. She was also a member of the CWL for many years. After our dad passed away in 1984, mom kept herself busy with some volunteer work, for example canvassing door to door for the Heart & Stroke and Cancer Foundations. Mom still loved gardening on a much smaller scale and planting beautiful flowers along with caring for her rose and lilac bushes. She loved it when the grandkids went and kept her company for a few days in the summer. We always loved it when we would get a phone call from mom telling us she was taking the STC bus and coming for a visit. The ones that lived further away would get a call that she was booking a flight to go for a visit.

In 2004, mom married Raymond Haller of Tisdale and enjoyed a few good years with him. In 2015, due to dementia, the Newmarket Place in Tisdale became her home. In her last few years, while battling dementia, she always had a big smile when her kids, grandkids and great grandkids came for a visit. She especially enjoyed listening to her great grandkids sing to her.

Mom leaves behind her husband Ray Haller, her nine children: Jocelyne, Claudette, Clement, Gerard, Bibianne, Rollande, Isabelle, Denise, Normand and their spouses; her 21 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister Soeur Rosanne Favreau, several nephews and nieces, Ray’s children: Dennis, Betty, Robert, Gerald and their families.

Mom was predeceased by our dad, Roland Lalonde, her parents Eugene and Andrea Favreau, her siblings: Fernand, Denis, Bernard, Richard, Pauline and Michel.
