DONALD LEE HINES was born in Philadelphia, PA, to Perline and the late David Squire. At an early age Donald was brought to Suffolk, Virginia, and raised by his great aunt and uncle Lewis and Annie lee Hines.
He attended Florence Bowser Elementary School. He graduated from John Yeates High School, where he starred as an all-district football player. He also played basketball as a two sport athlete.
After high school, he worked for the city of Portsmouth and the Newport News Shipyard.
Later, he enrolled and completed training at Trailer Operative School in North Carolina to become a tractor trailer truck driver. After his younger brother Tracy passed away, Donald made sure he called and checked on his mother everyday to make sure she was alright. Donald loved his family dearly. He always made sure he did the best for his daughter, Shadonna.
He worked with Copeland trucking company for many years until his retirement. He decided to move to Philadelphia to live with his dear mother for the rest of his days.
Donald is survived by his daughter, Shadonna; Grandchildren, Arianah, Aaniya, Serenity and Zyeir; Brother, Michael; nieces, Tiera and Teiasia; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
