After the Second World War, Rose left the family farm to seek her fame and fortune in the big city of Toronto where she worked at Laura Secord and met her future husband, Johnny. Married in 1949 in Noelville and soon thereafter started their family in Minnow Lake. They raised their children in Levack, returning to Sudbury 35 years later. Rose was a devout Roman Catholic; involved in the CWL for over 50 years, a choir member at Christ the King and palliative volunteer. She was adventurous in her 80’s when she travelled to Medjugorje in a once in a lifetime pilgrimage. She shared her love of gardening, baking, berry picking, pickling and entertaining with her family and friends. Rose earned her sapphire anniversary status on Ministic Lake where she spent her summers at the family camp. In her final years, she was surrounded by many passionate caregivers. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff at Finlandia and the Clarion Rehabilitation Center. Rose passed away with the setting of the sun surrounded by her family and incredible caring staff at the Maison McCulloch Hospice. Always surrounded by love and a part of every family gathering, her presence will be sadly missed. “You are now home in the hands of Jesus in no more pain. Be at peace Rose may your spirit go home.”
