Bruce "Mac" James McClellan

On May 29, 2023 ATCS Bruce “Mac” James McClellan passed away at the age of 80 years, leaving behind his wife, Judi; sons, David and Jim; stepson, Kevin Milsow; and stepdaughter, Dawn Kubat; along with his brothers, Michael and Richard; and sister, Kathy Winters. “Grandpa Mac” was always happy when he was able to see some of his 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He entered the Navy in 1962 (aviation) and was on active duty until 1969. His career was working for Unisys as a computer project manager. In 1980 he re-enlisted in the Navy Reserves and was a Senior Chief Petty Officer upon his retirement in 2003. “Join the Navy” and see the world – that he did and loved every minute of it.

Mac grew up in South St. Paul, MN and later moved to Inver Grove Heights. In 2015 he moved to Victoria Palms Resort in Donna, Texas where he had been a “Winter Texan” since 2004. He was dedicated to the Victoria Palms Woodshop and responsible for the administration and day-to-day operation. In 2023, they renamed it “Mac’s Woodshop”. When asked what he made, he always said “sawdust”.

Mac loved to travel in his Coachmen RV and was involved with the Coachmen Camping Club as District Rep/Ambassador from 1980 to 2021. He travelled all over the United States and met many wonderful fellow RV’ers. Coachmen was his second family and will be missed by many. He always said that Wally Froehle was waiting for him so they could enter heaven together.
