<p>It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Norma Christene MacKinley of Sydney, on Friday May 26, 2023, at her home. </p><p><br></p><p>Born April 10, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Dr. C.A. Sandy and Helen (Buckley) MacDonald.</p><p><br></p><p>Norma graduated from St Rita’s School of Nursing in 1970 and worked in numerous hospitals throughout Nova Scotia, but mainly the Cape Breton Hospital, Sydney River. She loved spending time at the family bungalow in West Lake Ainslie, where she could be found on the deck with a cup of tea and sweets.</p><p><br></p><p>Norma is survived by her loving husband, Barry; daughter, Jill MacKinley, Cheticamp; son, Blehr (Deidre George), Stewiacke; son-in-law, Marc Larade, Cheticamp; sister, Madeline MacDonald, Sydney; and grandchildren, Brayden and Mya Larade. Norma is also survived by her in-laws, Brad and Chrissy MacKinley, with whom she shared a special bond.</p><p><br></p><p>She was predeceased by her in-laws, Peter and Kay MacKinley.</p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will be held in Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday, June 2nd from 1 -2 p.m. followed by a funeral service in the chapel at 2 p.m. with Deacon Michael McCarville officiating. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery.</p><p><br></p><p>Memorials may be made to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation.</p><p><br></p><p>Words of comfort can be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.com </p><p><br></p>

Obituary
