David Raymond “Woody” Woodfill, age 81, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania. He was born January 17, 1942 in Toledo, OH to Raymond and Alice (Stine) Woodfill. A graduate of Maumee High School and the University of Toledo, David was employed as a Social Worker with the Department of Human Services for 36 years, retiring in 2001. He was an active member AFSCME retirees local 1184 sub chapter 109, and strong supporter of Jobs with Justice. David was one of the original Freedom Fighters. He loved cars and attending classic car shows. He followed politics closely and was an advocate for justice and equal treatment for all. David always said, “Pray for the dead and work like hell for the living.”

David is survived by his children, Lisa Woodfill, Eric (Mellisa) Woodfill, and Nicole (Junious) Murry III; grandchildren, DeMarcus Baker Sr., Caleb Hall, Junious Murry IV, and Zoe Woodfill; great-grandson, DeMarcus Baker Jr.; sister, Kathy (Roger) Woodfill-Loomis; many nieces and nephews including favorite niece, Karis Fahrer; and longtime dear friend, Enid Frederick. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Janet (Hamilton) Woodfill.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 3 from 2-6 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd.  The funeral service will begin at 5 p.m. in the funeral home with Eric Woodfill and Junious Murry III presiding.
