Bobby Gene Johnson, 93, of Piggott, Arkansas passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023 at the Piggott Community Hospital.

He was born March 21, 1930 in Piggott, Arkansas and was the son of the late Rossie Loton and Mary Belle Vaughn Johnson.

He was united in marriage to Junell Smith on September 28, 1951. To this union four daughters were born.

He was preceded in death by Junell on September 29, 2005; an infant daughter; and two brothers, Darrell Loton and Donald Ray.

He is survived by three daughters, Vickie Jean Clark and husband Jerry of Ozark, Missouri; Marcia Lynn Coyle and husband Danny of Piggott, Arkansas, and Sarah Nell Poole and husband Sam of Piggott, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Amy Marie Pelts of Kansas, Tiffany Jo Rodery (Travis) of Piggott, Brooke Danille Alberson (Shawn) of Piggott, Matthew Wayne Clark (Lissette) of Ozark, Missouri and Wesley Bryan Poole of Lafe, Arkansas; seven great-grandchildren, Joey Simpson (Jaymee) of Piggott, Morgan and Caleb Pelts of Kansas, Issys and Logan Clark of Ozark, Missouri, Gretchen Simpson of Piggott, and Henley Alberson of Piggott; one great-great-grandson, Murray Joe Simpson; his faithful dog Brownie; and a host of relatives and friends.

He was a member of the 218th Ambulance Company stationed at Camp Polk, LA. the members of the 218th Medical Ambulance Company Arkansas National Guard were called to active duty on January 23, 1951 during the Korean War. He was a life time member of the South Thorton Street Church of Christ and was retired from the US Postal Service after 26 years. Many of those years were spent walking the streets of Corning, Arkansas.

Over the years he has loved raising Bantam Chickens, cattle, ponies and mules. He enjoyed trading, bartering and selling anything. Watching his daughters, grandkids and great grandkids in all their many activities was a favorite pass time. Bobby was a regular at the diner for coffee and talk.

In the last few years he has enjoyed his friends and the great staff at Magnolia Manor. The family would like to thank the Piggott Community Hospital staff for their excellent care.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the Hoggard & Sons Chapel in Piggott, Arkansas, with Bro. Jerry Morgan officiating. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Matthew Clark, Wesley Poole, Joey Simpson, Travis Rodery, Shawn Alberson, Jake Haywood, and J.R Haywood. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Johnson and Barry Johnson. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Monday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in Hoggard & Sons Chapel in Piggott, Arkansas.
