It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Pierrette on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at the age of 94, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on September 4, 1928, in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Pierrette was the daughter of the late Leo and Rita Joly of Trois-Rivières, Quebec.

Pierrette, widow of the late Glen Ross (May 2020), is survived by her children: Yvette (Stephen) of Ontario, Lynne (Alfred) of Saskatchewan, Cathy of Saint John, and Ian (Paula) of Saint John. She was also a proud grandmother to Anthony, Terri, Jocelyn (Shawn), and Ryan (Lyndsay), and great-grandmother to Taelynne, Danaka, Rupert, and Ambrose.

In 1979, Pierrette relocated to Saint John with her family. For many years, she worked as a seamstress from the comfort of her own home, serving her clients until her retirement in her late 80s. Known affectionately as Pete, Grandma Pete, or simply Grandma, Pierrette’s warm hospitality made everyone feel welcomed in her home and at her table.

Pierrette was a resident at Carleton-Kirk Lodge Nursing Home for the past two years, where she enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and various other games. Additionally, she had a love for reading, which brought her great pleasure.

Along with her parents and husband, Pierrette was predeceased by her brother Andre and her brother and sister-in-law Allan and Norma Ross of Ontario.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, located at 230 Westmorland Road. Donations in her memory may be made to Romero House, the Kidney Foundation of Canada, or a charity of the donor’s choice.

A private service will be held for family and friends at a later date.
