Ruth Elizabeth Young

Ruth Elizabeth Bedgood Young, 93, of Austin passed away January 12, 2014 in Lakeway, Texas. She was born September 7, 1920 in San Antonio but moved to Austin at an early age. Ruth spent 22 years working for the State Comptrollers. She was a Sunday school teacher and lifelong member of Congress Avenue Baptist Church. Ruth loved to entertain, garden, camp and sew, but most important to her were her family and friends. She was always happy to make everyone feel welcome. Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, David A. Young, her parents and her 3 brothers. She is survived by her 2 daughters and their husbands, Patricia Bauerle Summers & Dave Summers of Austin and Gayle & Gary Mahagan of Sachse; 6 grandchildren, Dan & Vickie Bauerle, Kathleen & Steve Vernon, Scott Bauerle, Chad & Christy Mahagan, Tammy & Justin Alexander, Cory Mahagan; 12 great-grandchildren, Ashlye & Phillip Bays, April & Jacob Brown, Shane & Lindsay Bauerle, Lissa & Charles Bowden, Jake Bauerle, Josh Bauerle, Lexi Bauerle, Avery Alexander, Caitlyn Mahagan, Cooper Alexander, Cassidy Mahagan, Chase Mahagan; 5 great-great-grandchildren, Brylee Bays, Hannah Brown, Bryson Bays, Savannah Brown, Faith Bauerle; 3 step-grandchildren, David & Rhonda Summers, Amanda Summers, Robert & Sharon Summers; 4 step-great-grandchildren, Lauren Pollard, Scott Pollard, Kylie Summers, Bryce Summers. The family wishes to thank her caregivers at the Summit. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, Texas.A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Harrell Funeral Home, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow in Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery, Pflugerville, Texas. In lieu of flowers, Ruth previously requested that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or Texas Baptist Childrens Home in Round Rock, TX.
