Dale I Royal

<p>Dale Irvin Royal was born June 17, 1929 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Edith (Hulett) and John Dennis Royal. Dale passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Corn, Oklahoma at the age of 93 years, 11 months and 4 days.</p><p><br></p><p>Dale moved to Lansing, Michigan in 1937 where he lived until he joined the Navy at age 17 and served with pride for 4 years. While in the Navy, Dale married Elenora Roberts in 1949. They were married for 72 years.</p><p><br></p><p>Dale obeyed the gospel of Christ after he was discharged from the Navy. He and Elenora then moved to Tampa, Florida where Dale attended the Florida Christian College. Dale excelled in his studies of the Bible and Religious Education. He then preached the gospel of Christ in Florida, Michigan, California, Arizona and Oklahoma.</p><p><br></p><p>In 1974, while preaching in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Dale became the director of the Ypsilanti School of Preachers.</p><p><br></p><p>In 1979, Dale and Elenora moved to Oklahoma where they made their home at Foss. Dale preached for the Eastside Church of Christ in Elk City until the congregation moved to the current building at Pioneer and Bell. He continued to preach at Pioneer until he retired in 2020 at the age of 90.</p><p><br></p><p>Dale always liked where he lived and took a great interest in the history and culture of the area wherever he lived.</p><p><br></p><p>Dale and Elenora enjoyed camping and collecting artifacts from the area, especially Arizona. One of their favorite pastimes was reading. Their house was once filled with hundreds of books. Dale also enjoyed collecting things, which included knives, fountain pens, guns, model trains, and anything else that interested him.</p><p><br></p><p>He was a faithful Christian and teacher of God's word.</p><p><br></p><p>A major accomplishment of Dale's was being the editor and a contributing writer of "Let the Bible Speak", a compilation of articles which ultimately comprised a five volume book series.</p><p><br></p><p>Dale is survived by his son, Charles Royal and wife, Ellen of Decatur, Alabama; granddaughters, Katherine Davidson and husband, Dakota, of Chester, South Carolina; and Rebecca Royal of Decatur, Alabama; sister, Judith Bauer of Michigan, and other relatives and many friends.</p><p></p>
