Lisa Wilson Collins Obituary

Lisa Wilson Collins departed this life on the island of Antigua with her loving and devoted husband Perry by her side on May 19, 2023.

Lisa was truly involved with her church, her community, and many philanthropic organizations but her greatest accomplishment was her family. She loved fiercely and she took immense pride in being a wife, sister, mother, and grandmother. Her love for family knew no bounds.

Daughter of Laurel Willoughby Wilson and John Howard Wilson, Lisa was born February 16, 1958, in Mobile Alabama. She graduated from St Paul’s Episcopal School and attended St Mary’s Dominican College in New Orleans. Shortly after returning to Mobile, she and Perry began their life together. He was the love of her life, and she was his. Their 42 years of marriage was a testament of their great love and commitment to one another.

Lisa loved Georgetown and was one of its most determined advocates. Her passion for preserving the history and culture of Georgetown led her to become a founding member and board member of The South Carolina Maritime Museum. As a member of the fundraising committee for the Goat Island Yacht Club Regatta, she played a vital role in conserving the region’s maritime heritage. She took on any task with a smile on her face and a “Hammer” in her pocket. Her legacy will live on in the museum and the lives she touched.

As a member of Prince George Winyah Parish Church, Lisa served her congregation with unwavering dedication as a member of the altar guild, the linen guild, and the wedding guild as well as the chairwoman of the Tour of Historic Plantations and Homes. Her commitment to her faith was evident in every aspect of her life and she inspired others to walk in the light of the Lord.

Lisa was an adoring and protective mother to their children Perry Robinson Collins Jr. (Anna) and Sarah Collins Springs (Matt). As “My Lee” she cherished her time with her grandchildren Lowe, Montgomery, Willoughby, and Mack Springs. They will never forget the love she showered upon them!

Lisa is also survived by her sisters Helen Gaye Wilson and Laurel Ann Wilson (Christine), her brother John Howard Wilson Jr. (Sally), and countless extended family, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and dear dear friends. They are forever changed for being loved by her.

After a heroic fight, Lisa joined the communion of saints. She will always be remembered for her compassion, generosity, and grace. A service will be held on June 2, 2023, at Prince George Winyah Parish Church at 11am with a reception following at The Maritime Museum.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to The Smith Clinic, The Prince George Preservation Trust, or The Maritime Museum.
