Mildred, matriarch of the Shomin family and beloved Aunt to many nieces and nephews, walked on May 24, 2023 at home as she wanted. Her loving niece and caregiver, Julie, was at her side.

A traditional fire is being held at her home (43 Bridge Street, Petoskey), until dusk Sunday, May 28, 2023. Visitation and Rosary will be at Stone Funeral Home on Sunday, May 28, 2023 from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at St. Francis Xavier Church at 10:30 a.m. with a viewing at the church one hour before mass. Immediately following mass a burial will be held at Holy Cross cemetery in Cross Village.
