Phillip Popoff passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a lengthy battle with kidney disease on September 6, 2021 - the date of his 52nd wedding anniversary to his beloved wife and best friend Vera.

Phil is survived by his wife, Vera; his children, Lorrie Carlson (nee Popoff) and Lenny Popoff; his grandchildren, Josh Carlson (Stephanie Howe), Jordan Carlson (Melanie Mason), Jake Popoff (Katie Cresswell), and Jesse Popoff. He is also survived by his precious new baby great granddaughter, Aubrey Carlson.

Phil was well known to so many in the community for his outgoing personality and sense of humour. He spent his entire life as a heavy-duty mechanic and retired from Slocan Forest Products in 2001. He absolutely loved spending time in his shop whether it was fixing vehicles, building something, helping others with their projects, or purely socializing. He shared his passion with his son and grandsons and could often be heard saying "I wish they would just clean up the f***ing shop!" Phil also enjoyed the times he travelled with his wife to Reno, Vegas and Hawaii.Phil had a big heart and will be forever remembered for his unconditional love and kindness, especially for his family. Those that were close to him knew he was a true animal lover and that he had a special place in his heart for his pets Soleil, Max and Sadie. Phil will be sorely missed by all.

The family would like to thank the healthcare professionals at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail for their care and support during this difficult time; the Renal Unit and third floor nurses and doctors cannot be thanked enough for their kindness and compassion. Also, a heartfelt thanks to Phil’s family doctor, Dr. Andre Kirsten and Carla at the Ancron Medical Centre, and Gwen at Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services.
