<p>Steven W. Rodgers, 73, of Marble Falls, Texas passed away April 2, 2020. He was born to Ralph E. and Dorothy (Slinkard) Rodgers on November 23, 1946 in Cape Girardeau, MO. </p><p> The family moved to Dallas, Texas in 1954 where Steve was raised. Steve graduated from Bryan Adams High School in 1965 and attended East Texas State University. After a brief time at the university, Steve enlisted in the United States Airforce and after basic training and technology school he was stationed at Tinker Field OK, Tuy Hoas Air Base RVN and Eglin AFB Fla. After serving in the Vietnam War, he was honorably discharged and returned to East Texas State University and earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics in 1973. </p><p> Steve joined his father’s business as a leather salesman, where he discovered commission sales was not his calling. In 1976, he accepted a position as an Assistant National Bank Examiner with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) beginning a forty-year career in the banking industry. After the OCC, Steve took a position as VP in charge of operations and loan review officer with the First National Bank in Kerrville, Texas. His career led him to the University National Bank in College Station and finally as Executive VP (EVP) and Chief lending officer with Security State Bank &amp; Trust in Kingsland, Texas. Steve was not only a successful leader, he was a great friend and mentor to everyone he worked with, especially those at SSB&amp;T Kingsland. </p><p> He was an avid hunter and enjoyed hosting an annual dove cook with his closest friends and family. He spent many summers taking his family camping and dragging his girls around on a tube behind his fish and ski boat on Lake Buchanan. Steve had an appreciation for a new pick-up and well-kept yard. He spent hours maintaining his estate in Fairland. Most of all, Steve was a proud husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He had many lifelong friends and will be greatly missed. </p><p> Steve is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carol (Straube) Rodgers, of Marble Falls, Texas, daughters, Jenny and Stacy Rodgers of Austin, Texas, Jackie Waneck and husband, Clay of Rosanky, Texas, Kristy Beyer and Husband Brett of Fredericksburg, Texas and grandchildren Brody and Kaden Beyer of Fredericksburg, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bob Rodgers. </p><p> A public gathering will be 2:00pm - 4:00pm&nbsp; Saturday June 27, 2020 at Putnam Funeral Home in Kingsland, Texas. </p><p> Steve’s care entrusted to Putnam Funeral Home and Crematory, 145 Texas Avenue, Kingsland, Texas 78609. 325-388-0008</p>
