Obituary

Nancy Feehan, 86, of East Moline, IL, passed away peacefully at home after a recent lung cancer diagnosis on Thursday, May 25, 2023, listening to classical music, holding hands with (son) Jim and embraced by Jana. She has been cremated and her ashes will be buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Moline, where her parents and siblings are also buried. Private services will be held at a later date.

Nancy received Oil of the Infirmed and Viaticum (her last Holy Communion) from Fr. James Pallardy of Our Lady of Grace about seven hours before passing away. When she realized what was happening, she excitedly sat up, smiled that beautiful smile, conversed with Father, then peacefully laid back down when completed.

Nancy was born December 24, 1936, in Moline, IL, the youngest child of Gust and Afanni Binka Andon. She graduated from United Township High School. Nancy married James Feehan December 31, 1955, at St. Anne Catholic Church (later divorced and then remarried, although they no longer lived together). She was a dental assistant for many years working for Drs. Robert Frey and Mark Bollaert, and then retired from the city of East Moline Water Plant.

Nancy enjoyed gardening, scrolling Facebook and liking almost every post, cooking delicious Albanian-style food and special pancakes and eggs for the grandkids, and crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Mostly, she loved being with her family. To say her family was everything to her is an understatement. It’s been said that the most successful mother is the one whose children all think they’re her favorite. That was our mom—she had that gift. She was so proud of her family and loved everyone unconditionally.

A special thanks to Jana and Tom Sabel for the many years of loving care to our mom. She was so happy and comfortable living with you, and you’re appreciated more than you could ever know.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the entire team at UnityPoint Hospice–Quad Cities for holding our hands, calming our fears, and guiding us thru this very difficult time. Nancy’s dying wish was to stay home, and they provided the best pain management and compassionate care, making sure she was always comfortable and dignified. Their responsiveness to our calls and concerns was always immediate.

Survivors include her husband, James, Silvis; children, James (Kyle) Feehan, East Moline, Julie (Larry) Tate, Port Byron, Jana (Tom) Sabel, East Moline, Jacqueline (Rodney) Fitch, Moline, and Joanne (Butch) Johnson, East Moline; grandchildren, Bill (Jennifer) Feehan, John (Marie) Feehan, Bryan (Heather) Feehan, Adam Mortell (Margaret Morton), Andon (Will) Jacob, Kelly Titus, Ryan (Brighid) Titus, John Sabel, Jade Feehan, Joe (Kaylee) Floyd, Ozzie Branch and David Johnson; great grandchildren, Allee Feehan, Connor, Carter and Collin Feehan, Hunter and Gunnar Feehan, Tristan and Finley Jacob, Lena, Julian and Naomi Titus, Jaiden and Peyton Carver and Keagen Berhenke; long-time friend Polly Rosenow; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Pete (Mary) Andon, Georgia (Rick) Cole, and Kay (Bill) Bollaert.
