In Loving Memory: Keith Glenn Fisher

July 26, 1937 - May 25, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Keith Glenn Fisher on May 25, 2023. He lived a long and fulfilling life, leaving behind cherished memories for all who knew him.

Born on July 26, 1937, in Grand Saline, Texas. Keith was the son of Jim and Mary Fisher. He was a lifelong resident of Van Zandt County and grew up in alongside his seven siblings: Arlene Koonce, Audrey Ewalt, Jimmy Fisher, Glenda Thompson, Ralph Fisher, Linda Kay Hollowell, and Sherry Goff.

Keith was a loving husband to Shirley Marie Hashert Fisher for 67 years. Together, they built a home in Grand Saline, where they raised two children, Gregg Fisher and Wendy Fisher.

Not only was Keith a wonderful father, he was a doting “Papa.” He reveled in spending time with his grandchildren, Austin Fisher, Chase Fisher, Kandace Phillips, and Jordan Gilbert. He never failed to ask for an update of their lives, support their dreams, or enjoy their laughter.

The joys of Papa's life multiplied with the arrival of his great-grandchildren: Brynleigh, Paisley, Walker, Dallas, Savannah, Georgia, Caroline, Brady, Gaines, Maverick, and Mary-Martin. He adored them and cherished every moment spent with them.

In his younger years, Keith played men’s baseball and continued his love of the game throughout his life. He faithfully watched the Texas Rangers every time they aired. Keith was a little league coach and a lifelong fan of Indian football and the Dallas Cowboys. He was the perfect armchair quarterback and baseball manager! Keith loved his morning paper, the men’s breakfast crew, Suduko puzzles, road-tripping throughout the United States, and afternoon coffee with his best friend/brother-in-law Benny Hollowell. Keith was a passionate fisherman - so much so that he spent many of his retirement years living on Lake Fork catching crappy and bass. Keith looked forward to weekly Saturday Game Nights which consisted of dinner and dominoes with Benny & Linda Kay Hollowell.

Keith was a farmer his entire life. His love for growing produce and working hard never diminished. He continued to help others farm for many years after he retired, and a small garden can be found in his yard today. His dedication and work ethic brought him great fulfillment and earned him the respect and admiration of others.

Keith’s warm and compassionate nature extended beyond his immediate family. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of countless individuals, leaving a lasting mark on their souls.

Keith is predeceased by his wife Shirley, parents, Jim & Mary Fisher, brother Jimmy, sisters Arlene, Glenda, Sherry and several brothers-in-law including Odell Rogers, George Worthington, Hershall Ewalt, Hubert Koonce, and Mike Thompson.

He is survived by his son, Gregg Fisher (wife, Julie) of Grand Saline, and his daughter, Wendy Fisher of Frisco. He is also survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings Audrey, Ralph (wife, Mona), and Linda Kay (husband, Benny), sisters-in-law, Barbara Fisher and Mary Rogers, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A service to celebrate Keith will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Bartley Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Visitation for friends and family will be held Monday, May 29, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. at Bartley Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Michael Koonce, David Fisher, Randy Rogers, Tony Phillips, Mark Dickerson, and Thomas Kindle.
