Lois Magalene Stewart

<p>Lois Magalene (McCullough) Stewart, age 87, of Nashua, NH, passed away at Premier Rehab in Nashua on May 24, 2023, following a period of declining health. </p><p><br></p><p>She was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on January 6, 1936, daughter of the late Flemming and Lucille (Lawrey) McCullough.</p><p><br></p><p>Lois was baptized and grew up being nurtured by the Woodland Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC.</p><p><br></p><p>Her formal education was in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System; she attended Mount Holly, Salem Elementary, and graduated from Plato Price High School.</p><p><br></p><p>Lois loved to cook. As a young woman, Lois spent many weekends cooking fish for a fish camp, she also babysat and worked at Stow Mills clothing manufacturers. Cooking was her greatest hobby, she was a great cook and cooked almost everything for breakfast, lunch, dinner and desserts. She was most famous for her sweet potato pie.</p><p><br></p><p>In 1968 Lois moved to Baltimore, MD with her brother, Robert McCullough. There, Lois worked at Henderson State Hospital for several years until it closed in 1982. She also worked at Maryland Laundry washing and folding clothes. In 1989 Lois moved to New Hampshire where she worked as the Housekeeping Manager for the Sheraton Hotel for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. </p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by her son, Birnes Lee Stewart; her granddaughter, Tiffany Lynn Stewart and her two sons, Tyrell and Jordan; her brothers, Robert L. McCullough and his wife Rosetta, Flemming McCullough, Jack L. McCullough and his wife, Flora, all of Baltimore, MD, and Roy L. McCullough and his wife, Almina, of Nashua, NH; her sisters, Helen M. Grier of Belmont, NC, Dorothy Mayes of Boston, and Susan M. Harris and her husband, Bernard, of Baltimore; also host of nieces, nephews, cousins &amp; loved ones to miss her. She was the mother of the late Ronnie Lee Stewart and Cedric Lee Stewart.</p><p><br></p><p>SERVICES: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to her visitation from 3:00 until 6:00 pm on Friday June 2nd, 2023 at The DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, One Lock St., Nashua, NH 03064. A Prayer Service will take place in the Funeral Home during visitation. Interment will be private; Repast to follow.
