James E. Counihan

<p>James E. Counihan, age 83, passed away suddenly on May 24, 2023. James was born on September 8, 1939 to Merlin and Marion (Schmitz) Counihan at his home in West De Pere. He attended Nicolet High School. James married the former Janet Mae Schadrie on January 20, 1962 at St. Boniface Church in De Pere.</p><p><br></p><p>He enjoyed spending evenings on his front porch in his glider, saying hello to anyone that passed. He also spent countless hours at “The Barn” with Greg Rottier, the brother he never had, drinking soda and passing the day away.</p><p><br></p><p>Jim is survived by his wife, Janet, daughter Dawn House and friend John Winkler, son Scott James (Michelle) Counihan. He is further survived by grandchildren, Jordan, Taylor, and Ryan Counihan, and sister-in-law Marlene Schadrie.</p><p><br></p><p>He is preceded in death by his sister, Shirley, brothers-in-law Pat Giesbere and Gerald Schadrie, his parents, grandparents, and father and mother-in-law Norbert and Loretta Schadrie.</p><p><br></p><p>Friends and family may come to call on Tuesday, May 30 at Resurrection Catholic Church, from 9:00 A.M – 10:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 AM with Father Tom Reyenebeau officiating.</p><p><br></p><p>Special Thank you to the Green Bay Paramedics and the staff in the Emergency Department at St. Vincent Hospital.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to the American Heart Association.</p><p><br></p>
