Karlee Marie Fluegel Rockford, Michigan Obituary

Karlee Marie Fluegel

Karlee Marie Fluegel, (Also known as Karsterina, and My Little Peanut) age 30 of Rockford, passed away unexpectedly and way to soon into the arms of Jesus, on May 22, 2023.

Karlee left behind her two beloved children, Owen Denny (8) and Charlotte Denny (5) who loved her more than anything in this world. Her parents, Mark and Kim Fluegel, Sara and Josh Peters and Brent and Stephanie VanderMolen; brothers and sisters; Katie Fluegel (Kenny Delmont), Bobby Fluegel, Trey Peters, Jayden Peters, Willow Peters, Mark Jr. (Tea’) Fluegel, Michelle Wolven, Haden VanderMolen, Paisley VanderMolen and River VanderMolen; her grandmothers, Barb Millering, Sandee Hermann, Sue Fluegel, Julie VanderMolen; many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. She is also survived by her children’s father Zack Denny.

Karlee was met at heaven’s gate by those she loved and had gone on before her. Great Grandma Peggy Jayne, Great Grandma Elizabeth Jones, Great Grandma Arlene Chesebro, Papa Jack Hermann, Grandpa Carl Fluegel, Grandpa Duane Millering Sr. and two cousins, Eric Millering and Jordan Smith.

Karlee had a glowing personality and presence that drew people to her. She was fun, loving and inclusive. She was daring, adventurous and not afraid to try or do anything. She had a spirit of love and protection that was as fierce as a Momma Bear. She was deeply passionate and devoted to those she cared about. Especially her children.

Growing up Karlee’s passion was Soccer. She played and practiced morning, noon and night. She started on community ed teams from age 6 to 8 and then started playing for the Soccer Club of Rockford (SCOR) at age 8 throughout high school. She also played on the Rockford High School team. She loved playing forward, but her skill, talent and fierce attitude made her the perfect goalie. When she wasn’t playing or practicing for her teams, she would drag any willing person out into the yard to play with her, no matter how hard they went out kicking and screaming.

She loved telling people about the mission trip she took to Guatemala with her best friend Leah and was deeply touched by the children there. She wanted to adopt one! And came home begging us to! She also did a mission trip in New Orleans.

She loved to create things and was very artistic. She did wood burning, painting, coloring, and carpentry, creating many wood projects we all treasure today. Stools, chairs, cutting boards, recipe boxes, jewelry boxes, and even a tree house.

She loved nature, the outdoors, horses and cutting down big trees. And did that girl love to sing. Not only singing but very expressively through her facial expressions, hand and body movements. She sang all the time, teaching her children to love music and songs. She even sang while in labor at the hospital with Charlotte. She was watching Moana and busted out singing one of her favorite songs from the movie. One of her favorite sayings was Hey. Or Hey dude.

She loved dream catchers and butterflies. Pickles, noodles with butter and Parmesan cheese, chicken alfredo, Cheese Wiz (the kind you would spray out of a can). She would pile it a mile high on one cracker or just spray it directly in her mouth on movie nights.

But the one thing Karlee loved the most and was the proudest of, was her children, Owen and Charlotte. She loved playing outside with them, taking them to parks, mushroom hunting, rock collecting and just out exploring and adventuring. She would let them color and paint with her, and taught them to be creative, expressive, and to love music. Charlotte was her cuddle bug and Owen was her protector and little man.

The lesson she learned the last few months of her life was this, One day at a time, One moment at a time, One breath at a time. If Karlee was able to tell us all one thing, about how to move forward and get through the impossibility of grieving her, that would be her message and desire.

Memorial services for Karlee will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Bella Vista Church, 5100 Belding Road NE, Rockford MI. 49341. Karlee’s family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

A private family interment will take place in the Courtland Township Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to go to Karlee’s go fund me found on Facebook to help pay for funeral expenses.
