Gale E. Peabody of Newark Valley, NY has entered into his eternal life on May 25, 2023. Gale was born on December 31, 1937 in Endicott, NY to the late Fayette and Dorothy Peabody. He was a graduate of Vestal High School Class of 1957 and proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1955-1959. Gale was a retired employee of IBM Owego after 30 years. He was very involved in Country and Bluegrass music and was an award winning square dance caller. He played with the Tune Twisters for 15 years and in various other Country Bands. Soon after, he owned and operated Peabody Sound, a professional audio production company providing audio support primarily for acoustic music.

Gale was predeceased by his parents, brother Roger, sister-in-law Jackie, a nephew Steve, father-in-law and mother-in-law Arthur and Frances Benjamin and several other in-laws. Gale is survived by his loving wife of 67 ½ years, Bernice Benjamin Peabody, sons Kirk, Danny "Skip", and Karl (Stacie), all from Newark Valley, NY. His grandchildren include Danielle Peabody, Kacie (Justin) Reynolds, Tyler, Maddie (Dakota) Hatton. Great Grandchildren Morgan, Meghan, Zhamiyah, Malik, Charlie Rae, Tobin and a Great Great Grandchild Oliver. He is also survived by Larry (Kim) Peabody, David Peabody; many nieces, nephews and their families along with many loving in-laws and friends.

As we celebrate Gale’s life and the lasting impact he had on those around him, let us remember the love, laughter, and joy he brought to our lives. We will gather on Tuesday, May 30th from 1 – 2 pm at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St., Newark Valley so family and friends can come together to share stories, laughter, and love in remembrance of the man who touched so many hearts. A celebration of his life will follow at 2 pm at the funeral home. Gale will be laid to rest in the Hope Cemetery.
