Cheryl Ann Green, age 64, died on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 in Houston, Texas. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at 14th and Main Church of Christ, where Cheryl was a member.

Survivors include husband J. Green of Coahoma, daughter Lauren Green Liggett, husband Will and grandson Teddy Liggett of Austin, and son Ryan Green of Plainview. She is also survived by her brother David Seitenbach of Greeley, Colorado, sister Janet Hone and husband Rick of Larkspur, Colorado, brother-in-law Rodney Green of Lubbock, niece Michelle Brazill of Castle Rock, Colorado, nephew T.J. Seitenbach of Eerie, Colorado, nephew Russell Green of De Leon, niece Shelby Seitenbach of Louisville, Colorado and niece Melissa Owings of Lubbock. She was preceded in death by parents John M. and Lois Rowin Seitenbach of Denver, Colorado, and father and mother-in-law Willie F. and Betty Joiner Green of Jal, New Mexico.

Cheryl was born on May 25, 1958 to John and Lois Seitenbach of Denver, Colorado. She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1976 and went on to study secondary education at Lubbock Christian University (LCU) in Lubbock, Texas. It was at LCU that Cheryl met her husband, J. Green, whom she married on April 28, 1979.

After graduating from LCU in 1979, J. and Cheryl moved to Coahoma, Texas where Cheryl began her 32-year-long career as an educator at Coahoma High School. During her time at Coahoma, Cheryl taught history, government, economics, and English. In 1987, she received her MA in counseling from the University of Texas–Permian Basin and later served as the school counselor. Cheryl also received the Mirabeau B. Lamar Award for Excellence in Education. An ever-loyal fan of the bulldogs and bulldogettes, Cheryl fervently supported Coahoma High School and its students.

While Cheryl invested heavily in her school community, she had no greater role in life than that of a wife, mother and grandmother. She instilled in her children a strong moral compass and served as a foundational figure: ever-present, ever-patient, and ever-loving. Cheryl’s greatest happiness was found with the birth of her grandson, Teddy.

In 2010, Cheryl was diagnosed with cancer that would eventually take her life. She fought the disease with the same strength and faith with which she lived her life.

Cheryl will be remembered by the way she gave to those around her. A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and educator, Cheryl’s life was defined by an unfaltering service to her family, her faith, and her community.
