Marguerite Bonnie Hedges

<p>Marguerite Bonnie Hedges, 88, of Peoria, IL, died on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.</p><p><br></p><p>Bonnie was born on September 16, 1934 in New York, NY. From 1963 to 1980 she was married to Harry Mezydlo, and had their daughter, Julia. On January 20, 1990, she married Lloyd Hedges, and gained a stepdaughter and stepson, Shirley and Keith.</p><p><br></p><p>Bonnie is survived by her husband of 33 years, Lloyd Hedges, of Peoria, IL; daughters, Julia Mezydlo Paras of Los Angeles, CA and Shirley (David) Brost of Cedar Rapids, IA; son, Keith (Kathy) Hedges of Nixa, MO; and four grandchildren: Kari Brost, Connor Brost, Sarah Hedges, and Brice Hedges.</p><p><br></p><p>In 1952, she joined the United States Army and served until 1954. For over 20 years she was a reference librarian for the downtown Peoria Public Library, retiring just before her 70th birthday. Throughout her life, Bonnie went to cultural events, read books, and connected with those around her. She was exceedingly capable, funny, and made an effort to dress well.</p><p><br></p><p>Bonnie loved to travel with her family and visited many different countries as well as many car trips in the Midwest.</p><p><br></p><p>A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 12, 2023, at the Universalist Unitarian Church of Peoria.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Universalist Unitarian Church of Peoria, 3000 W. Bonnie was always so interesting to talk to during coffee hours at the UU Church. I remember her smile fondly. Her life was well lived and will be a true memory for so many of us.

Julia and Lloyd,

I am so sorry to hear about this. I will never forget the restraint Bonnie showed when Julia and I emptied the contents of her beanbag chair onto her shag carpet. She was a wonderful person and I’m sending you both my deepest sympathies.
