<p>Ms. Margie Dryden Carter "Margie Lu”, 85, died Thursday (May 25th, 2023) at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA.</p><p><br></p><p>She was a native and long-time resident of Hoboken. Margie was the valedictorian of the Hoboken High School class of 1955 and was a 1959 graduate of the Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, GA. Later in life, she returned to school to become a teacher and earned Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Education Specialist degrees from Valdosta State College. She worked for the federal government (Social Security Administration) for 17 years before transitioning to a career in education and teaching 30 years in the Brantley County School System - where she taught 5th grade and 8th grade Georgia History and Language Arts. All that she did in her personal and professional life, she did with “spizzerinctum” and purpose. Margie was an avid life-long reader and was a member of Hoboken Baptist Church where she served for many years as a Sunday School teacher (Fidelis class) and in various ministries. She loved the Lord.</p><p><br></p><p>Margie is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Clarence Dryden and Grace Kelley Dryden; one brother, John Robert Dryden; one son, David Norris Carter; and father of her sons, Bobby Norris Carter.</p><p><br></p><p>Survivors include two sons, Michael Clarence Carter (Lisa) of Williamson, GA, and Paul Lee Carter (Sandi Jo) of Leesburg, GA; six grandchildren, Jackson David Carter, Mary Michael Carter, Macy Margaret Carter, David Daniel Carter, John Luke Carter, and Asher Paul Carter; and two great-grandchildren, Kyrie Knox Miller, and Kaliyah Marie Holsey.</p><p><br></p><p>A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday (May 29, 2023) at Hoboken Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Rowell officiating. Burial will follow in Hoboken City Cemetery. The family will begin receiving friends at the church on Monday at 10:00 a.m.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
