Daniel P. Messenger Obituary

Daniel P. Messenger, age 79, of Peshtigo, passed away Wednesday May 24th at HSHS St.Clair Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls with family by his side.

Born February 17th 1944 to the late Clyde and Ruth Messenger, he attended Hall School in County Line. On December 7th 1962 he joined the Army National Guard and graduated basic training on June 7th 1963. On November 30th 1963, Daniel married the love of his life Emily Bohaczek . He worked for the city (known as clean sweep Dan’l) of Peshtigo for many years before he retired.

Daniel enjoyed planting his gardens, keeping up his yard, hunting at his brother’s cabin with bothers and nephews, and going to breakfast occasionally with his brothers.

Daniel is survived by his wife Emily of 59 years; 3 daughters, JoAnn (Tom) TerMaat of Peshtigo, Lynn (friend Jack Goetsch) DeHut of Oconto, and Lisa (Larry) Meeks of Peshtigo; 6 Grandchildren, Stephanie TerMaat of Suring, Christopher TerMaat of Peshtigo, Emily Dakins of Oconto, Daniel (DJ) Messenger of Hobart, Lawrence Meeks of Marinette and Garrett Goetsch of Oconto;  9 Great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson; 4 sisters, Jeanie (Russell) Martin of Peshtigo, Rita (Tom) Seefeldt of Coleman, Mary (Jim) Pital of Lena, and Kathy (Joe) Fiedorowicz of Crivitz; 2 brothers, Clyde Messenger of Oconto and John Messenger of Oconto Falls;

2 Sister in laws, Mimi Messenger of Lena and Cindy Messenger of Coleman; and many nieces and nephews.

Daniel is proceeded in death by his father, Clyde Messenger, mother, Ruth Messenger/Goldsmith; 2 brothers, Michael Messenger, Richard Messenger; infant son, Daniel Messenger Jr; granddaughter, Sara Messenger/Peterson; and nephew, Jeff Martin.

We would like to give a special thank you to all the nursing staff at HSHS Community Memorial Hospital along with the girls at Unity Hospice and the staff at Meadowbrook for the loving care they gave at this difficult time.

Per Daniel’s wishes there will be no services.
