John M. Pisciotta Obituary

MECHANICVILLE – John M. Pisciotta, 73, of Riverside Park South, died peacefully in the comfort of his home on May 23, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. One tough son of a gun, John battled cancer for several years, usually winning a losing fight, and even over the last several months, never giving up. Born in Brooklyn on September 3, 1949, he was the son of Vincent and Margaret “Daisy” Pisciotta.

John worked as a Captain and tugboat operator for most of his life. His heart and soul was committed to the water, and would have operated a tug until the day he died if possible. He was affectionately known by many as “Johnny Tugs”. John worked at several companies throughout his career, most notably Berman Tugboat Enterprise, Henry Marine, and Dan Ocean Towing.

There are baseball fans, and then there are NY Mets fans. He was one of the biggest. He loved the orange and blue through and through, attending games, and going through the ups and downs of their season, as only a Mets fan knows. He also enjoyed playing spades, poker, loved a good hustle at Trick Shots, and spent hours playing arcade golf alongside his love Anna May.

His family meant everything to him, from his children, grand and great grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews. They all had a tight bond. He was so proud also of the 21 years of sobriety he had, with many thanks and praise to N.A.

John was predeceased by his first wife, Evelyn Miller Pisciotta, in 2012, as well as his brothers David Pisciotta and Timothy Pisculli, and step son David Thompson.

Survivors include his wife of 9 years, Anna May Senecal Pisciotta, whom he married on August 16, 2014, beloved daughters Jennifer(Chris) Schmidt of Delmar, Lori(Shane) Liberty of Mechanicville and Jessica(Nick) Maciariello of Mechanicville, Barb(Heath) Craft and Debra Thompson, adored grandchildren Gabriella Fuda(Ryan), Logan Schmidt, Ava Liberty, Angelica Venice and Mia Maciariello, Alexis, Mckenzie, Madison, Timmy, James, Brady, and Thomas, great grandchildren Vianna and Olive, siblings Mark, Paul and Matthew Pisculli, his uncle Peter Smith, and many nieces and nephews.

In keeping with John’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.

If you would like to remember John in a special way, remembrances may be made to Community Hospice, 310 S Manning Blvd, Albany, NY 12208 in memory of John M. Pisciotta.
