Patty S. Richman Obituary

Patty S. Richman, 92, passed peacefully on Friday, May 19, 2023, with her family at her side.

Patty was born on January 25, 1931, in Clinton, MO, to Henry Hoppe and Mary (Glasscock) Hoppe. Patty graduated from Clinton High School and was a candy striper at Clinton’s hospital. Patty married Carl Richman, Jr., in Clinton on October 9, 1954. They were married for 38 years before Carl’s passing on May 19, 1993. After marrying Carl, Patty became a homemaker, also working on the family’s farm and assisting in Carl’s painting business.

Patty was truly the rock of the family – a strong woman who was always there to help family, friends, and neighbors. Her family brought her so much joy, but she was a mother to more than just her five children in the love she shared with her “bonus” children. Patty’s abundant “buffets” were legendary, and this tradition continued when she became the best “sous chef” for later family gatherings.

Patty had a green thumb and loved gardening, especially all the beautiful flowers under her care. Patty was also talented musically, both vocally and instrumentally. Although she took piano lessons in her younger days, she didn’t play piano for many years and taught herself how to play again in her later years. She also taught herself how to play the guitar, dulcimer, and harmonica. She loved attending Rose Hill Baptist Church and sharing her musical gifts with the congregation, often in duets with fellow church members. Patty loved to read, do puzzles, and spend time with animals. She was a true spitfire and will be dearly missed.

Patty is survived by her son Mark (Diane) Richman; daughters Marla (Lonnie) Worthington, Carla (Kenny) House, and Paula Richman; grandchildren Angela (Josh) Torres, Tori Richman (Stephen) Lollis, Kenny House, and Chance House; and great grandchildren Gabriel Torres, Zander Richman, Brycen Richman, and Theodore Lollis, as well as many other family members and friends.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mary Hoppe; her husband, Carl Richman, Jr.; her son, Craig Richman; her grandson, Jake Richman; her twin sister, Peggy Bailey; and her brothers, William Hoppe and Lester Hoppe.

The family request Memorial Donations be made to Rose Hill Baptist Church in memory of Patty Richman.
