Dolores Doyle Obituary

Dolores "Dolly" Doyle was born May 24, 1930. She went to be with Jesus on her 93rd birthday. Dolly lived a long sweet and full life dedicated to family. Her final hours could not have been sweeter being surrounded by family playing the guitar and singing worship music at her request as she reached out for the hand of her Lord and breathed her last breath.

Dolly’s love of music was evident her entire life and lives on in the lives of her family. While attending John Bartram High School, she sang in the A cappella choir. In her adult years, she sang in the choir at St. Barnabas Parish in Southwest Philadelphia and then in Saint Pius Parish in Broomall. Her love of music is carried on by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who are actively involved in school choirs and church worship bands.

Dolly was a loving and extremely devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She married Jack, her high school sweetheart and together they raised 2 children. They spent many years enjoying life with lots of laughter, cruises and spending time with lifelong friends. Nothing was more important to Dolly than family. We all had great comfort in knowing Mom/Gram was always there, through thick and thin, with endless words of wisdom.

Cooking was another one of her favorite things to do. Blessing her family and friends with home-cooked meals gave her great pleasure. Another daily joy was watching westerns, Gunsmoke to be exact. Everyone who knew Dolly knew she liked her Gunsmoke!

Working hard was at the core of Dolly’s being whether it was in the home or at the office. She was employed at Mercy Catholic Medical Center, Misericordia Hospital for many years. Her busy job was something she loved, as was serving many years as the president of the board at Hollybrook Condominiums.

Dolly was preceded in death by her husband, Jack and is survived by her dearly beloved brother Rudolph (Susan) Pittelli, her two children, John (Lynn) Doyle, Linda (James) McDonald, her grandchildren Chrisy, Anthony, Zachary, Erin and Jacob, along with her 12 great-grandchildren.

Dolly loved life, loved family and loved God. She was a woman of faith who will never be forgotten and will forever be missed. Her legacy of faith lives on and on in the generations of her family.
