William Ervin Obituary

William Ervin, age 87, of Toledo Ohio passed away Tuesday, May 23rd, 2023. He was born December 11th, 1935 to Ralph Ervin and Annette Vsetecka. William would spend his life in Toledo, graduating from Woodward High School, meeting his wife of over 65 years and starting his family here. He was member of St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Catholic Church. William worked as a master carpenter in the area for over 50 years, developing unparalleled skill in his craft. His love and dedication to his large family never wavered; he was very involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren, especially when it came to being a helping handyman. He loved to share his expertise with tools, helping his grandchildren with school woodworking projects or even taking on the small odd-job that would come his way post-retirement. William always had a joke to tell, and whether humorous or not, he was always able to bring smiles to a room. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Pistons and greatly enjoyed watching the NBA in his free time.

William is preceded in death by his parents and his three siblings: Ralph Ervin, Barbara Staler, and Agnes Ervin. William is survived by his wife Shirley Ervin, and their six children: William Ervin, Michael Ervin, Susan Zuehlke, Joy-Ann Sanchez, Patricia Ervin, and Robert Ervin. He was also a loving grandfather to eight grandchildren, and great-grandfather to five great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 31st at 1:30 pm. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery 5725 Hill Ave Toledo, Oh, will follow. The Ervin family will be receiving friends and family for a visitation at Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, 0n Tuesday, May 30th from 5 to 8 pm.
