MEDWAY - Gilbert L. Chaloux born March 31, 1932 - died November 10, 2022, at his home in Florida with family at his side. He was born in Patten, Maine, to Jesse and Mary Chaloux (Michaud, Heath). He was predeceased by his parents; and his sister/best friend, Julie.


A veteran, he was a Sergeant 1st class in the Army and served as a radio operator during the Korean war. He later worked for Great Northern Paper Company as a paper inspector.


Gilbert loved life, was very friendly, and his joyful laugh and smile were contagious. His love of life included his life partner, Joyce Estabrook, family, friends, and socializing through playing guitar, singing, dancing, playing cards, hunting, fishing, motorcycling, and more. For 17 years, he and Joyce loved camping at Katahdin Shadows Campgrounds enjoying friends and family and all the activities.


He is survived by his ex-wife, Verona Chaloux; their 5 children and their partners, Vonnie Evans (h) Wayne, Elaine Fukuhara (p) Mark, Gilbert G. Chaloux (w) Denise, David Chaloux (w) Joni, and Randy Chaloux (p) Julie; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; Joyce's family, Brian Estabrook (w) Brenda, Barbara O'Brien (h) Michael, Bruce Estabrook, Brent Estabrook (w) Tracy, Barry Estabrook, and Chris Estabrook (w) Natasha; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.


Special thanks to Saint Francis Reflections Lifestage Care (Hospice), Joyce, Bruce, Barry, Barbie, Bryanna, and Alison Wakefield, who helped Gib's last days be as peaceful as possible.
