Leona Lucille Achee

<p>Leona Hart Achee, affectionately known as Lea, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the age of 85. She was born in Eureka, Kansas to Lois Winifred Hart and James Elmer Hart on January 3, 1929. She married Sterling G. Achee, Sr. on December 28, 1948 and she traveled to many stations during his Air Force career, including Europe, Japan, and U.S. They settled in Austin in 1966. In 1975 she went to work for the Texas Real Estate Commission and upon “retirement” from the State, she worked for Austin Energy until her “second” retirement at age 77. </p><p>Lea had great devotion to her family and her faith and was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at St. Edwards University for more than 30 years. More recently she was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. Lea is survived by her 5 children, Sterling “Greg” Achee, Jr. and wife Tina, Stephen Achee, Michelle Achee and husband Bengt Griborn, Phillip Achee and wife Lynn, and Loretta Achee together with 4 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. </p><p>Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Monday, with recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Angel Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery.</p>
