Richard G. Phaiah

<p>Richard G. Phaiah, 78, of Ashford, passed away at Yale New Haven Hospital on May 11, 2023, after a brief illness. Richard was born in Putnam on November 27, 1944, son of the late George C. and Merina (Joseph) Phaiah. Richard was a 1962 graduate of Killingly High School. During his career, he worked as an accountant at Pervel Industries in Plainfield. He later went on to have a long career in the movie theater business and was owner-operator of both the Imperial Cinema in Putnam and the Killingly Cinema in Dayville. Richard was also a manager for both the Hoyt and Regal Movie Theater chains for many years. After retiring from the theater business, Richard worked at C.H.R. in Putnam until his retirement in 2022. Richard was a dedicated, active, lifelong member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Danielson, serving in many positions during his lifetime. He is survived by his brother Stephen Phaiah of Brooklyn and his sister Deborah Phaiah of Danielson. Richard was predeceased by his sister Jacqueline Robey in 2013. Burial was private in Westfield Cemetery, Danielson. A memorial service will be held on June 11, 2023 at 9 AM at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Situate, RI.</p><p></p>
