James E. Blair, Jr.

<p>James “Jim” E. Blair Jr, 78, of Flemington, NJ, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2023 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township NJ.</p><p><br></p><p>Jim was born on April 17, 1945 in Wichita Falls, TX, son of the late James E. and Floy M. (Tedford) Blair. He later moved to Alton, IL and after graduating from Alton High School in 1963, Jim then join the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. While stationed at England Air Force base in Alexandria, LA., Jim met his future wife, Patricia “Pat” Goelden.</p><p><br></p><p>Jim went on to get a degree in Criminal Law and began a career in law enforcement as a Deputy Sheriff for Rapides Parish in Alexandria, LA. After his retirement from law enforcement, Jim began his career in Pharmaceutical Sales which spanned over 30 years with Johnson &amp; Johnson.</p><p><br></p><p>When Jim became a grandfather in 1989, he became “Pawpaw.” He cherished his role and took every opportunity to share what he loved with his granddaughters, Beth &amp; Emily. Everything from learning how to play golf, to riding on the lawn mower. He loved making them laugh.</p><p><br></p><p>In 2010, Jim retired and enjoyed traveling around the world with his wife, Pat. When he wasn’t traveling, he enjoyed playing golf or working as a golf ranger for Heron Glen Golf Course in Flemington NJ. He loved staying busy and was always looking for a project to start around the house.</p><p><br></p><p>He will be remembered for all the kindness and laughter he shared with his family and friends. He truly made an impact on all the lives he touched. He will be missed dearly.</p><p><br></p><p>Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia (Pat) Blair, daughter and son-in-law, Lisha and James Gorman, his granddaughter, Elizabeth (Beth) Gorman, his granddaughter and her husband, Emily and Ryan Cole. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Don Englehart and his half-brother, Todd Blair.</p><p><br></p><p>Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
