NEW BEDFORD- Maria Lourdes (Felix) Silvestre, 77, of New Bedford, entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 25, 2023.  She was the beloved wife of José Silvestre with whom she shared 55 years of marriage and daughter of the late João and Elza (Silvestre) Felix.

Born in Mareco, Penalva do Castelo, Portugal, she came to this country in 1966. Mrs. Silvestre was an active parishioner of St. Anthony Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered with the food pantry at the church.

Mrs. Silvestre was employed as a stitcher at the former Justin Clothing.

In her leisure time she enjoyed knitting and crocheting, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Her family includes her husband, José Silvestre of New Bedford; 2 sons, Armando Silvestre and his wife, Justyna of Cumberland, RI and Steve Silvestre and his wife, Tabitha of New Bedford; 1 brother, Jose Antonio Felix of Portugal; 3 sisters, Nazere da Silva of Portugal, Zelia da Silva of Cumberland, RI and Regina Felix of Florida; 5 grandchildren, Kassandra Pye, Nicholas Silvestre, Alexus Silvestre, Jazmine Needham and Tyra Needham; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Grace Constantino.

Her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Visitation in the funeral home prior to the Mass from 8:30-9:30 A.M. Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cumberland, RI.

In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
